Freelancing Suits Women of All Types
No matter what kind of woman you are, I can say with absolute certainty that a freelance lifestyle is suited to you. One of the main reasons that freelancing suits women is because it’s adaptable and flexible and you can make it whatever you want it to be. If you start a freelance business, the world is literally your oyster! It could be absolutely anything you dream up. You’ll be your own boss which means that YOU make the rules and YOU are in control! Pretty cool, right? Freelancing suits women of all types, but here are examples of a few.
The Traveler
So many women want to be able to travel, have crazy adventures and wonderful, life changing experiences. Well when you choose a freelancer career, you can! Being an online entrepreneur gives you complete location independence. You can work from anywhere that there’s a wi-fi connection. Client meetings can be held on a video chat and you can keep in touch with people via email. There isn’t anything you can’t do online anymore. Freelancing suits women who dream of being able to travel because you won’t have an office to report to, the world is your office!

The Stay-at-Home Mom
So many women get forced out of work each year after having a child and very few employers are flexible enough to allow mothers to only work during school hours and term time. The employment system is a strange and ridgid one. Freelancing suits women who want to be able to have children and spend time raising a family while continuing to work. Being an online entrepreneur means that you can work from home and spend more time with your loved ones. All the while creating an awesome online freelance business. The flexibility that being a freelancer gives you is unlike anything you’d find working for an employer. If you need to do the school run, do it. If you’re child is sick, take care of them. If you need to run errands, run them. Being a female entrepreneur and online business owner means that you have the flexibility to have a family and look after them at the same time as working, earning and having a fulfilling professional life.

You can take your business in any direction you want, continue to grow and evolve it and make it as successful as possible. Female entrepreneurs are the ultimate career women as they have built their very on business from the ground up. Being a freelancer also gives you the opportunity to continue to learn and improve your skills which is something that career women crave. You’ll never be stationary, always moving forward.
If you start a freelance business, the world is literally your oyster! You can make it whatever you want. You’ll be your own boss which means that YOU make the rules and YOU are in control! Pretty cool, right?
Freelancing Suits Women Because The Employment System Wasn’t Built For Us
Cast your mind to way back when women weren’t allowed to work and HAD to stay at home, look after the children and cook and clean while the men-folk went off to work. Being employed and working for someone else was never designed for women in the first place! Nowadays we have the choice of what to do with our lives but we’re still taught that we should grow up and get a job for someone else. I don’t think women were ever meant to work for anyone but themselves which is why freelancing suits women. How empowering does that feel, eh?

Freelancing Has More Benefits For Women
There are so many benefits for women in a freelance careers compared to being employed. Everything about being a female freelance entrepreneur owes itself to being more flexible, adaptable and allowing you more freedom. The freedom to earn what you want as well as work whenever and wherever you want! The perks of being an independent female freelancer don’t just end there. Here are some more!
Professional Progression
Like I said earlier, you can progress you’re freelance career as much as you like and it’s often a lot further than women would progress while being employed. You could go from being a solo entrepreneur to creating a large business that requires 10+ employees/subcontractors. How cool would that be? Not only can you choose how to progress your business, you can keep building on your skills and learning new ones when you’re a freelancer. There are no restrictions or limits to what you can learn and how far your personal learning could progress within a freelance career. This is one of the things I love most about being a freelancer and I swear, I still learn something new everyday!
In a freelance career you’ll never be stationary, always moving forward.
More Choice
Freelancing suits women as it gives them so much choice and with more choice comes more freedom. Freelancers can choose what hours they work. You could only work mornings or evenings or you could choose to work almost every waking minute. The thing to emphasise is that the choice is entirely yours. You can also choose what jobs you do. You can turn down clients and only work with people and on projects that you’re super passionate about. You can choose to only do what you enjoy. Being an online business owner and freelancer also gives you the choice of where you want to work. No more clocking into a grey office building. You can work from home, a coffee shop, a hotel. You could work from anywhere in the world so long as you have your laptop and a connection to the internet.
Earn More
Compared to employment, female freelancers earn more. The main reason for this is that you have the freedom to set your own rates. No more slogging away for a wage that someone else decided you deserve. You decide what you deserve to earn and then charge it! I’m speaking from experience here. When I started my freelance business I was charging $20 an hour and now I charge $100+. Yes, it takes time and effort but my pay has progressed quicker than it ever did when I was employed. Freelancing suits women more than being employed because most companies don’t pay you what you deserve. So many women are overworked and underpaid by their employer.
Better Work-Life Balance
Freelancing suits women as it gives them the opportunity to have a greater work-life balance. Women who want to spend time with their families can do just that when they choose a freelance career. Modern day work-life balance is almost non-existent. So many American women live to work rather than working to live which is really sad. Being your own boss means you’re in charge of your own schedule. You decide when it’s time to stop working and go and pursue your hobbies or see friends and family. Say goodbye to being dictated by the 9-5 work day. Midday coffee dates are back on the table!

Variety
How many female friends and family member do you know that have a mundane and boring career? A fair few? Well you can forget all about mundane and boring when you start your own freelance business and work for yourself. You can choose to work with so many interesting people from all walks of life. No two days as a freelancer will be the same. Freelancing suits women over being employed as a lot of stereotypically female jobs are repetitive and samey. There is no stereotypically female freelance job because it’s whatever YOU want it to be! It’s cliche, but variety is the spice of life!
Freelancing Suits Women’s Skill Sets
Women have so many skills that go unused in their careers when they work for someone else. It’s unfortunate, but so many skills that we poses as females go overlooked and undervalued. However, the freelance lifestyle requires ALL of these valuable skills that we as women naturally possess. If that doesn’t mean that freelancing suits women then I don’t know what does! It’s practically in our DNA!
If that doesn’t mean that freelancing suits women then I don’t know what does! It’s practically in our DNA!
Multitasking
You might think it’s just an old saying but women are actually better at multitasking than men. Men work better when they’re focused on just one task whereas women are able to swiftly switch between and juggle tasks. Freelancing suits women as you need to be able to manage client communication, finances, social media, admin, project management and so much more. You also need to be able to keep track of multiple things at once. Numerous projects, deadline, meetings and incoming emails. We’re are just naturally better at multitasking which means freelancing suits women more than it does men. Sorry guys!
Excellent Communication Skills
Communication is a key part to being a successful freelancer. You need to be able to sell yourself and your ideas to potential clients, communicate effectively with a team and clients as well as settling any disputes. You also need to communicate in a way that is approachable and likable. Yet again, biology means that freelancing suits women more that it does men. Studies have shown that there is an evolutionary reason for women ‘gossiping’. It was to spread information and better our chances of survival. While that’s very primitive, it means that today, women are more effective when it comes to communicating and relaying information.
Being Able To Ask For Help
Freelancing suits women as we are notoriously comfortable with asking for help and admitting when we don’t know something. This comes in super handy as a female entrepreneur because no one can know everything! There will be times when you need crucial financial advice from an accountant or legal advise when drafting a contract. One of the best things I did for my business was admit that I need help and start outsourcing work in the areas I wasn’t confident in. This has only enabled me to grow my business further.
Problem Solving
God bless mother nature! She’s only gone and given us another advantage in the freelancing world. Freelancing suits women as we are naturally better at problem solving than out male counterparts. This is because the areas of the brain in the frontal lobe that problem solve are larger in women. Problem solving is an essential part to being a successful freelancer. If you gave up at the first problem you came across, you wouldn’t get very far. Some days freelancing just seem to be a series of problems, one after another. All you have to do is keep solving those problems. Easier said than done sometimes but women are suited to freelancing because of the problem solving skills we naturally possess.
Mature Behavior
Another biological fact that means freelancing suits women is that we mature earlier than men. We mature at about 32 years old whereas men reach maturity on average at the age of 43 – 11 years after us! It should come as no surprise that having a freelance business means being mature. Mature enough to deal with the large responsibility of a business, handle finances and deal with clients. In a lot of 9-5 jobs you can get away with minimal responsibility, not dealing with clients on a personal basis and only handling your personal finances. This is a controversial one, but freelancing suits women as we mature earlier.
Men Aren’t All Bad!
All kidding aside, men aren’t all bad. I know and am privileged to work with some awesome male entrepreneurs and freelancers. It just seems to be that freelancing suits women more than it does men. It gives us greater freedom and flexibility. The wage we deserve. Location independence. A greater work-life balance. I could go on and on but the perks of the freelancing lifestyle are plain to see! Freelancing suits women from all walks of life. We need to stop preaching about growing up and getting a job working for someone else and instead teach women, young and old, that you can work for yourself. Being a freelancer should be every woman’s dream!
I find ur article very informative and helpful. Keep it up!
